True relaxation and wellbeing starts at the feet at the new Barefoot MedSpa and Wellness Center. Here, in a serene and stress-free environment, in beautifully-appointed private rooms, clients can find a perfect balance of medical, aesthetic and luxury care for their feet and legs.

The first of its kind anywhere, not just on the First Coast, the medical spa opened its Beach Boulevard location in December, 2006. Using a unique combination of the best of Western medicine and Eastern philosophy under a doctor’s supervision, Barefoot MedSpa features treatments and therapies designed to help clients achieve beauty through health.

All the services you’d expect to find at a podiatry practice are here. But what you might not expect are services like revitalizing leg and foot massages, hydrotherapy, wraps, exfoliation, foot reflexology, spa pedicures, podiatry aesthetics for the feet and legs and other specialty treatments. And that’s just the start. Barefoot MedSpa, in keeping with its “whole body” care concept, offers a licensed massage therapist for neuromuscular, sports, myofascial, Swedish, aromatherapy and prenatal massage.

Howard J. Groshell, DPM, MD

Beyond bringing health and wellbeing to the Jacksonville community, Dr. Howard J. Groshell, DPM, MD, has volunteered his time to working in the Dominican Republic for several years. Because the need for podiatry and other medical care there is so great, he has founded Barefoot Charities. The organization will be working to raise funds for a hospital expansion in the Dominican Republic and to produce shoes for people with diabetes-related foot ulcers and toe amputations. The success of Barefoot MedSpa will mean additional funding for those vital programs.
